When working on a piece, I experience the same click
when the concept and execution come together that I feel
when I meet someone with whom I have an instant
chemistry. It's that same hot, almost frantic, visceral
"YES" that bubbles up. And just as with a person, I am
much more interested in how they became who and what
they are than in seeing a shiny, flashy facade. I search
for character in objects and in people. I want to see
the marks that made them what they are -- warm,
beautiful, alive, honest, real -- a product of human
hands.
